These residency projects are inter-active hands on, in classroom activities. All activity choices are suitable for all benchmarks (I, II & III) for all grade levels that are referenced with the essential learning requirements.
Introduction
A call and response of singing and greetings with each other in another language. Understand arts concepts and vocabulary.
Dance
The student make connections within and across the arts to other disciplines, life, cultures, and work. The dance tells a story of a tradition. To understand and demonstrate their interpretation of dance within a cultural arts concept.
Drumming
Simplistic drum patterns in orchestration will be introduced. To apply to a responding and creative process in the arts. To Understand an apply arts styles from various artists, cultures and times.
Various Percussion Hand Instruments
The student communicates through the arts. To refine and extend arts skills and techniques.
African Games, Histories (Stories) and Song
The student demonstrates thinking skills using artistic processes. To apply a creative process in the arts; conceptualize the context or purpose, gather information from diverse sources, develop ideas and principles for the purpose of elaboration and refine work based on call and response feedback.
Costume / Prop Making
Choices of making costumes, Jewelry. To compare and contrast specific attributes of artworks that reflects culture and history and the world of work.
